Traidhos Camp and Summerhill Shanghai partnered in 2017 to offer opportunities to young people who were looking for more than just a summer camp. Believing in the potential of young people to grow into leadership roles, given support and encouragement, CCDP was born.
In May, hopeful young people submitted a video introducing themselves and were then interviewed by Summerhill and Traidhos staff. Eventually three young people were invited to participate in CCDP 2023.
The young people committed to being part of the adult team during 2 weeks of Traidhos Camps and vlogged about their experience and reflected on their daily participation every evening.
It was rewarding to see the transformation from older camper to junior Counsellor and to watch these impressive young people respond to feedback, model the techniques of other counselors and challenge themselves to contribute to the camp.
