Amnuay Silpa observation of bugs
Observing bugs with Amnuay Silpa Y5
August 23,2022. After learning about animals in the classroom, Amnuay Silpa students were excited to be digging in the soil, peeping behind dead bark and bird watching during their fieldtrip at Bang Sai. From reptiles and mammals to amphibians, birds and insects we were amazed at how many species we saw in a few hours.

PASCHE Goethe Institute Netzwerk Klima Conference
29 July - 7 August 2022
A fantastic week exploring issues about climate change and creating positive actions that participants from Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand would implement on the return to their country. Using Compass Education tools, role play, analysis of beach clean up materials and visits to communities and National Parks, Traidhos Barge Program was happy to partner with Pasche and Goethe Institute to help deliver this program.

Harrow House Camp group sit
September 15, Harrow International School, Byron House. Getting to know each other and having fun in a new environment found Harrow Students planting rice, playing games and cooking Thai snacks during their annual house camp. Good luck for great working together this school year!

Amnuay Silpa Water Conservationists
September 13, 14 found Students from Amnuay Silpa investigating causes of water pollution through games, chemical testing, hunting for macro invertebrates to use as bio indicators and river observations. It was a busy day next to the Chao Phraya River but it gave everyone a real sense of how important the Chao Phraya River is.

Prem G10 Leadership & Biodiversity October 2022
For Prem Learning Week, Grade 10 focused on environmentalism. They explored questions of biodiversity, marine ecosystem health and sustainability through a wide variety of activities over four full days. Students studied water quality using macro-invertebrates from a stream on Doi Inthanon. They discovered the impacts of ocean acidification on marine life through hands on experimentation. By the end of the week, G10 made personal pledges towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

ELC History Hunters in Ayutthaya
October 25-27, 2022
ELC Y6 students had a great time investigating the UNESCO World Heritage site in Ayutthaya, as they explored the value of museums and considered whether ancient ruins should be restored to their original splendour or valued for the sense of time that they communicate.
They role played being archaeologists and interpreting evidence as well as playing games looking at the meeting of cultures.

Regents Y4 Khao Yai.
2-4 November, 2022 Nothing beats walking in the real forest when you have been learning about it in the classroom and sitting in the cold atmosphere

This was the experience that Regents Y4 enjoyed during their residential trip. They were a great group of forest detectives spotting tracks and signs and interpreting what they saw.

St Andrew's 107
7-10 November, 2022
From snorkelling in the Gulf of Thailand to camping in the forest, St. Andrew’s 107 students worked together and embraced new challenges.
It was a happy week appreciating the natural
environment, being pushed into new comfort zones and having fun in several habitats.

Bangkok Prep Y8 Chanthaburi
Water was a big part of the Bangkok Prep Y8 Chanthaburi experience .
Students snorkelled over the coral reef and splashed into the sea as they descended the water slide; kayaked through the mangrove forest, swam at the waterfall and paddle boarded on top of salty waters.
New challenges, fears conquered, comfort zones extended … a fun week of growth and learning.

Harrow Y13 Biology Ranong
Beep Beep, 5:15AM, Okay, okay I'm awake!!!
This amazingly hard working group of Harrow students got up before the crack of dawn to get started on their field work every day. The days saw students catching and marking mud crabs, exploring the mangrove forests, learning about life in the estuary, making transects along the rocky shore, and even counting everything they could find on the seagrass meadows. Using the University of Kasetsart research station in Ranong, the students calculated Simpson's Index of Diversity and more, the number crunching continued late into the evenings. A trip these Year 13 students will remember for life.

Investigating Thailand’s River of Kings the Chao Phraya, resulted in a busy day for Berkeley students. They built a model of the watershed, considered how the demand for water may lead to water wars in the future and identified creatures living in the river. Experiential learning at its best!

Bangkok Patana Y5 In-School
What does sustainable development goal 6 mean for a Y5 student? Bangkok Patana students investigated different types of water pollution and considered how the land use around their school impacts local water sources.

Watching the river change from a city landscape to a rural one and appreciating the importance that Chao Phraya River continues to have was part of the adventure for St Andrews Green Valley as they journeyed in the steps of traders to Ayutthaya.
It was an exciting week discovering the river habitat and the importance of Ayutthaya.

ELC Y4-5 Kanchanaburi
ELC Y4-5 Kanchanaburi 22-24 November, 2022 ELC Y4-5's residential trip to Kanchanaburi gave students the opportunity to visit WW2 history sites. to investigate natural ecosystems and to have fun living together away from home for a couple days. Students visited sites including Hellfire Pass, the famous bridge over the river Kwae and the Donrak War Cemetary, all supported by discussions. games and activities to bring history to life. Students found out about elephant conservation, sustainable gardening practices and visited a local community using regenerative practices to grow and sell bamboo crafts.

ISB G4 Khao Yai
Water is crucial for all life forms. ISB G4 were on a mission to consider the role of water in the rainforest and the grassland areas of Khao Yai National Park. From mushroom caps and tree holes catching water, to drip tips and forest streams we had fun identifying water sources and seeing the role of water.
We also had an amazing night drive spotting all sorts of wildlife.

6,7,8 December 2022
ELC Y1 travelled along the Chao Phraya River observing buildings, looking at shadows and thinking about what it was like under the water.
Our young visitors enjoyed playing Captain’s Coming and thinking about the river as a friend as they listened to the Giving River story.

Investigating technology and nature, found ELC Y3 hunting for different wheels and considering how the kiln and potter's wheel worked. A busy day which included throwing a pot and finding out more about Ko Kret.

St Andrews Samakee Y5
6 - 9 December 2022
St Andew's Samakee explored the nature and history of amazing Kanchanaburi. This included a 6.5 km SUP paddle down the Kwae River. They did a fantastic job! Students learned about Thailand's involvement in WW2 by investigating sites such as Hellfire Pass and the River Kwae Bridge Memorial. They also enjoyed living together away from home and growing closer as a class through team building games and activities.

Geography students compared four test sites along the Chao Phraya River creating a water quality index using chemical and physical tests as well as with bio indicators. Sites stretched from Dao Kanong to Nonthaburi.

King's Bangkok Y3 Ayutthaya
13-14 December 2022
Visiting a community brick maker and creating water colour paintings of some of the amazing temples were highlights for King’s Bangkok Y3 as they delved into the past in Ayutthaya.
Students also discovered that they could make their own decisions on their first residential trip.

AUA Access, Khao Yai
16 - 18 December, 2022
Great to work with such motivated teenagers from 3 AUA branches and the AUA Access team in Khao Yai National Park. Students explored issues of water quality, biodiversity, fragmentation of habitat and interviewed a ranger to learn more about the management of this National Park.

Investigating the ecosystem of Bang Pu and creating food webs found MEP students from Samsen Wittayalai sieving the mangrove mud, observing birds and hunting for wildlife. Everyone was surprised at what they found living in this habitat.

ISB G5 Chanthaburi
16-18, 18-20 January, 2023
Walking through the mangrove forest at low tide reveals an amazing community of crabs, shrimps, wading birds and snakes. ISB G5 were fascinated by the colourful crabs, tangled roots and sounds of the mangrove as they investigated adaptations and discovered more about this marine habitat.
