Traidhos Barge Program was recently invited to participate in the Panel on Outdoor Education: Programming From Around the World, part of a conference hosted by Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, Canada. Linked by a shared technology platform, The Barge Program shared the stage with a program based in India, Explorers Outdoor Ed and the main gathering in Canada.
When the conference screen was handed over to us, the experiential learning opportunities offered by the Barge's land and river programs filled the meeting room and we were able to share the elements that make up our watershed program. After two other presentations, we fielded questions about our experience of working with young people in the field.
We might have been separated by many miles and by time zones, but it was quickly apparent that we shared many similarities with the activities we facilitate and the students we work with.
