Co-Curricular Information

Co-curricular and sports activities are a huge part of a student's life here at PTIS. These wide and varied activities give our children numerous opportunities to learn and grow outside the traditional classroom, greatly enhancing their educational experience at PTIS.

We encourage ALL students to be involved in at least one activity per term. Many students choose to do two, three or even more if their schedule allows. Of course, it is wise to cautiously balance curricular academic demands with these co-curricular offerings.

The Co-Curricular Program (CCP) is offered on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for the Junior School from 3:00pm - 4:00pm (some academies are on Tuesday and Friday). Also, the CCP is offered every day after school for the Senior School from 3:15pm - 4:15pm. Some sports teams and the Senior School Production have longer practices.

VANS run daily:

• Junior School - 4:15 pm
• Senior School - 4:30 pm
• Sports Teams - 5:15 pm

Most activities in the CCP are free of charge. However, some activities have outside providers such as sports academies (golf, tennis and football), archery and muaythai and therefore charge a fee. See course descriptions for further information.

The activities offered depend on the special interests and areas of expertise of the academic staff and on requests from students. Parents and Senior PTIS students may also be involved in leading a CCP activity.

PTIS Sports

PTIS students can take part in a variety of sports. We are part of C.M.A.C. (Chiang Mai Athletic Conference). There are four regular sporting seasons in C.M.A.C.

Each ‘season' has games on Tuesdays afternoons for Senior School students and Wednesday & Thursday afternoons for Junior School students. At the end of each season there is a formal tournament to see who can win the trophy for each age division of each sport.

In addition to these formal C.M.A.C. competitions there are other sports fixtures against schools from Chiang Mai, Bangkok and some schools from other countries scheduled throughout the year.

C.M.A.C Age Groupings

Most of the sports are based on the following age groups:

• Under 20 Boys& Girls (Varsity)
• Under 16 Boys& Girls (Junior Varsity)
• Under 13 Boys& Girls (Middle School)
• Under 11 Boys& Girls (Upper Elementary)
• Under 9 (Lower Elementary)

Students must be under the required age from the 1st of August, 2009.

In addition to the sports mentioned above, PTIS also has Cricket, Golf, Tennis and Football Academies, which are in operation all year.

These academies offer specialist coaching by international coaches, and host local and international tournaments.
